Based on a study by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the current five-year survival rate for breast cancer in India is 66.4%. Notably, breast cancer remains the most prevalent type of cancer in the country.
Breast Cancer accounts for 28.2% of all female cancers in the country
The ICMR study reveals that breast cancer constitutes nearly a third of all female cancers in India, totaling 216,108 cases by 2022. The study also highlights regional disparities in the survival rate across 11 geographical areas. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Ahmedabad urban, and Mizoram surpassed the national average, while Tripura, Manipur, and Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh exhibited lower survival rates.
