Mumbai is experiencing a temperature rollercoaster this week, with cold mornings giving way to warm afternoons. On Monday, the city woke up to its second coldest day of the season, with the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Santacruz Observatory noting 14°C.
The residents had also woken up to pleasant conditions on Sunday, with temperatures dipping to 16.3°C at the Santacruz observatory—a sharp drop of four degrees, in comparison to Saturday. Today’s forecast predicts a minimum of 21.99°C and a maximum of 26.94°C for the day.
IMD Mumbai Director Sunil Kamble explains that these fluctuating conditions are typical of the season. The forecast predicts consistent weather patterns throughout the week, with maximum temperatures ranging between 32°C and 34°C, and minimum temperatures hovering between 16°C and 20°C.
Private weather forecaster Rushikesh Agre has predicted a cold wave from December 16 to 19, with temperatures potentially dipping below 15°C.
