An integral part of rituals across almost all religions in India, flowers account for the maximum waste generated every day at temples, gurudwara or enshrined tombs. Notably, as a symbol of respect and reverence, about 80,000 metric tonnes of flowers are showered in Ganga, every year, making it one of the most polluted rivers in the world.
Tacking both issues with one novel idea, the Mysore Deep Perfumery House (MDPH) has initiated a new campaign in partnership with HelpUsGreen to clean the environment and recycle the monumental floral waste. Read on to know more about this innovative project launched in Kanpur.

Partnering up with HelpUsGreen, a pioneer in the pathbreaking ‘flowercycling’ technology, Mysore Deep Perfumery House (MDPH) has launched “Nature Flower” fragrant incense sticks that are made from recycled flowers. This innovative range of products comes under the ambit of its flagship brand Zed Black, one of India’s top three agarbatti manufacturers.
From floral waste to scented sticks, the Zed Black Nature Flower Incense Sticks comes in four natural fragrances, Sandal, Mogra, Kasturi and Rose. All of these products are available across the country on all leading e-commerce websites.
Talking about this green initiative, Ankit Agrawal, Managing Partner Mysore Deep Perfumery House (Zed Black), said, “Joining hands with HelpUsGreen, a pioneer in flower recycling technology, and creating the agarbatti brand “Nature Flower” is our small contribution in reducing floral waste from the country’s holy places”.
Besides temples, the officials are working through the idea of inducting various municipal corporations into the MDPH brand “Nature Flower programme, for collecting daily floral waste and repurposing them as incense sticks. Through this move, both these organisations aim to create create a clean environment for tourists and locals alike.
Mission to impact lives of over 1000 women by 2022 end

Apart from delivering scented products, this initiative aims to reach out to over 1000 women working on this project, indigenously. Talking about the plan of employment generation, Karan Rastogi the Founder and Director of HelpUsGreen said, “The plan is not only to recycle discarded flowers but also to provide job opportunities.”
“The mission at hand is to have an impact on the lives of over 1000 people by the end of 2022,” added Karan Rastogi. To achieve this target, the company envisions establishing multiple collection centres across India to boost job opportunities for underprivileged women in Kanpur. MDPH and HelpUsGreen have already impacted the lives of hundreds of people in the city.
Sharing his thoughts on the future plan of action, the Director said, “Aside from preserving rivers and keeping holy places clean, we will work to create a circular economy around temple waste, thereby creating job opportunities. We will soon begin producing lifestyle products in India by upcycling monumental temple waste and making it sustainable.”.
A step in the right direction

Talking about this collaboration, Founder and Director of HelpUsGreen said, “The MOU with MDPH is vital as a popular National brand is thinking about waste management and making sure that this cause reaches the masses in the best way possible”.
At present, the team is already working with around 25 places of worship, including temples, gurudwaras and mosques, in Kanpur. Some of these places include Shri Anandeshwar Mandir, Kali Mathiya, Shanidev Mandir, Bhairav Mandir, Panki Mandir, Jogeshwar Mandir, Siddhnath Mandir and Gumti Gurudwara, among others. In all, the collaboration is catering to more than 230 tonnes of flower waste in Kanpur.
