After a long and strict curfew in Indore, city residents can express relief as the infection positivity rate has dipped significantly. In light of the latest developments, the Crisis Management Committee of the district has indicated that Indore might start relaxing the curfew soon. While the current infection rate is above 5%, following COVID protocols may help in lowering it in the next 2-3 days. If Indore manages to keep the numbers in check, then this city can also start to unlock from 1 June, reportedly.
45 districts of MP to unlock from 1 June
Apart from Indore, Bhopal, Sagar, Ratlam, Rewa, Anuppur and Sidhi districts, ‘unlock’ has been announced from 1 June in all 45 districts of Madhya Pradesh. These districts have a weekly positivity rate lower than 5% and as per WHO guidelines, if the positivity rate is less than the aforementioned percentage, then the curfew guidelines can be relaxed.
The current infection positivity rate in Indore is recorded between 6-7% and it is expected to decrease in the next 2-3 days. If this happens then, according to the District Crisis Management Committee, Indore can begin an unlock from 1 June and fall in line with the majority of the districts of Madhya Pradesh.
The district administration of Indore, including the District Collector, DIG Police and Municipal Commissioner, is assessing the situation by surveying various localities, in person. The residents have been appealed to follow COVID protocols and get vaccinated at the earliest, by the district administration of Indore, for these basic steps will help in decreasing the positivity rate.
