As per the instructions from Commissioner’s office, the documents and books from the Holkar dynasty are to be digitised. These documents are currently preserved in the Rajwada’s Darbar hall. The initiative has been taken to further preserve the records in digital format. The decision to digitise these historical documents was taken following a meeting with the smart city officers last month. The meeting was also attended by Indore Smart City Development Limited (ISCDL) CEO Rishav Gupta, Additional Commissioner Sapna Solanki, Rajneesh Kasera, etc.

It has been reported that the discovered documents date from 1854 to 1948. The documents primarily written in the Modi script of the Marathi language are stored in about 2400 bundles. The documents are . As a part of Rajwada’s conservation project by smart city officials, the digitisation of these documents was given much emphasis in the meeting called by Divisional Commissioner Dr Pawan Kumar Sharma.
He said on the matter, “The records kept in Rajwada are our priceless heritage and there is a need to keep them safer. These documents must be kept in an appropriate place for better conservation, hence the need for digitisation”.

The digitisation of the historical documents is likely to take place in the archives office of the Archaeological Survey of India in Rajwada. However, the place to digitise these historical documents has not been decided yet, as per the assumptions, vacant govt. press offices can also be used for the smooth operation of the digitisation process. Following digitisation, the rich history of the Holkars will be available for generations to come.
