The Devi Ahilyabai Holkar University of Indore has started to issue admit cards for offline college examinations scheduled from April 1 onwards. The process of issuing the admit cards began on Wednesday and will extend until Thursday. Students under all undergraduate programmes, including BA, BSc, and BCom and professional courses have to appear for these exams which raises several health concerns among parents and students alike, amid the resurging fate of COVID-19 here.
Offline exams in Indore despite the COVID-19 rise
While several students are protesting against offline exams at Indore University, the issuance of the admit card solidifies the varsity’s decision to conduct offline exams, erecting another hurdle for the protest group. Popular student opinion is divided into two major prospects which include the postponing of exams or conducting open-book assessments.
The District Chief Secretary of the National Student Union of India pointed out that some students were infected during the practical exams conducted by the DAVV a few days ago. In such a situation, administering theory exams for about 1.20 lakh University students is an invitation to disaster. According to sources, the Devi Ahilyabai University had asked for the guidance of the Higher Education Department, however, no assistance has been awarded as yet.
No change in the examination schedule
A meeting conducted in Bhopal to review and repress the coronavirus infection on Wednesday decided to orchestrate examinations here. All exams, including competitive exams, will be carried out as per the pre-planned schedule, in accordance with the new guidelines established by the government. At the same time, there will be no hindrance in the movement of candidates and officers and employees involved in the examination work.
