COVID-19: India records slight rise with 4,194 new cases & 255 deaths

Reportedly, the weekly positivity rate has further dipped down to 0.55% while the daily positivity rate has marginally risen to 0.52%.

On Friday, India recorded a slight rise in COVID-19 infections and death rates. The country's daily COVID-19 cases rose to 4,194, pushing the cumulative COVID-19 tally up to 42.98 million, as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare data. The country also saw a rise in COVID-19 fatalities with a total of 255 deaths, taking the total toll up to 5,15,714.

Despite a slight rise in daily infections, India’s active caseload has further reduced to 42,219 which constitute a mere 0.10% of the country's total positive cases. Over 6,208 patients recuperated in the last 24 hours, pushing the country’s cumulative tally to 4,24,26,328. Consequently, India's recovery rate has shown improvement at 98.70%.

Throughout the rise and fall of COVID-19 infections in the country, India has been rapidly testing its citizens. Over 8,12,365 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours, whereas a total of 77.68 crore cumulative tests has been conducted in the city, so far. Keeping up the good news, the weekly positivity rate has further dipped down to 0.55% while the daily positivity rate has marginally risen to 0.52%.
