Rural schools in Goa report a high attendance rate as physical classes resume after 8 months

With the permission of the state, all schools and educational institutions in Goa resumed physical classes for class X and XII, November 21 onwards and the strength of the institutions in rural Goa, witnessed a major improvement in just a week's time. This rapidly normalizing attendance rate in the rural schools have been largely pegged to the lack of digital infrastructure, that were creating problems for the pupils to stream online classes on a regular basis. By consequence, several village schools in the state have taken a decision to discontinue offline classes, embracing classroom-teaching for the sessions of classes X and XII.

Goa's One Time Settlement Scheme 2020 allows defaulters to clear their dues in instalments!

The Chief Minister of Goa launched State Electricity Department's new One Time Settlement Scheme 2020 in a function at the Secretariat in Porvorim on Monday. This scheme gives an opportunity to all defaulting consumers to pay their pending dues of electricity bills to the Electricity Department with either partly or fully waiver of Delayed Payment Charges (DPC) based on the period of repayment.

Applications under this scheme can be submitted by the deadline of December 31, 2020. The Cabinet Head dignified this proposition as one of the biggest steps in the state in the last 60 years, adding, a similar scheme would be launched by the public works department (PWD) for water bills as well.

Tourists in Goa to be photographed & fined upon flouting the face mask rule

Cracking the whip on tourists who aren't adhering to the issued COVID protocol of wearing a face mask and argue against civic authorities, the mayor of Panjim stated on Monday, that police will henceforth accompany officials enforcing the norm. The errant tourists will be photographed and fined. The mayor added that the decision was taken after reports, that certain tourists became abusive towards the Panaji Municipal Corporation officials, especially those visiting the iconic Immaculate Conception Church in the state capital.
