Bars & restaurants in Goa to function at 50% capacity from today onwards

As the pandemic loosens its grip over the sunshine state, the Goa government is stepping forward with amplified relaxations. After a long period of closure, restaurants and bars across the territory have been permitted to resume operations at 50% of their seating capacity, from today onwards. Though the statewide curfew stands extended till July 12, the administration has also allowed sports complexes, outdoor stadiums and salons to reopen from today.

Both vaccine doses & negative RT-PCR reports must for tourists visiting Goa after 'unlock'

With dropping infection tallies in Goa, the state is moving ahead with unlocking interventions but the revival of tourism remains to be a point of concern. As per reports, the Chief Minister informed that tourism will be revived in the coastal state only after July 30, when 100% of its population stands inoculated with the first jabs. Further, reports state that only fully vaccinated individuals with an RT-PCR negative report will be allowed for tourism activities in the state.

Rural schools in Goa report a high attendance rate as physical classes resume after 8 months

With the permission of the state, all schools and educational institutions in Goa resumed physical classes for class X and XII, November 21 onwards and the strength of the institutions in rural Goa, witnessed a major improvement in just a week's time. This rapidly normalizing attendance rate in the rural schools have been largely pegged to the lack of digital infrastructure, that were creating problems for the pupils to stream online classes on a regular basis. By consequence, several village schools in the state have taken a decision to discontinue offline classes, embracing classroom-teaching for the sessions of classes X and XII.

Goa pushes off the decision to restart classes X & XII to after October 2

Goa Chief Minister on Thursday said that the decision to restart classes for students of Class X and XII will be taken after October 2. This decision is rooted in the fact that about 30% of the students in Goa are still struggling with internet and connectivity issues, which is making the current online and digital e-learning framework an impractical model. To circumvent this issue, the state has planned to speed up the clearing procedure of setting up mobile towers in areas of connectivity issues.
