The Women’s Premier League (WPL) is back, and this time, Lucknow and Mumbai are ready to steal the show! The third edition will kick off on February 14, with matches spread across Baroda, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Lucknow — marking the latter’s debut as a host city.
The WPL will debut in Lucknow with UP Warriorz playing four matches at the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium (Ekana Stadium).
Lucknow to host four WPL clashes
Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium will witness four electrifying matches, starting March 3, when the UP Warriorz face Gujarat Giants. Fans can also catch UP Warriorz battling Mumbai Indians on March 6, Gujarat Giants versus Delhi Capitals on March 7, and a clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 8.
For Lucknow’s women cricketers, this is a golden chance, as they might join UP Warriorz’s practice sessions, gaining exposure and potentially catching the selectors’ eye. Former cricketer Priyanka Shaili calls it a transformative moment for women’s cricket in the city.
Mumbai’s Cricket Club of India (CCI) to host the final match
Mumbai’s iconic Cricket Club of India (CCI) will be the stage for the thrilling final phase of the Women’s Premier League 2025. Known for its rich history and unmatched atmosphere, CCI will host the last two league matches as well as the playoffs.
The top-ranked team will secure a direct spot in the final, while the second and third-place teams will clash in the Eliminator on March 13, 2025. The grand finale, set for March 15, 2025, will see the top two teams battling it out for the coveted title. With all matches being single-header games, fans can expect relentless action and excitement.
