Recording an increase of 193 cases from Tuesday, fresh COVID infections in Indore jumped to 512 cases on Wednesday. Reportedly, with the single-day rise marked on Wednesday, the active tally of coronavirus in the city has climbed to 1,270 cases.
Adding 62 COVID patients that have recovered and were discharged on Wednesday, the cumulative tally of recoveries has gone up to 1,52,282 in the city now.
Indore marks the highest fresh cases in MP

Notably, this is the first time in 7 months that fresh cases in Indore have crossed the 500-mark. During the second wave of coronavirus last year, 535 new cases of coronavirus were detected in Indore on June 8.
With the sudden surge in COVID cases, Indore has become the highest contributor to the rising infections in Madhya Pradesh. Out of 1547 cases detected across the state in the past 7 days, 55% of cases have been detected in Indore alone.
New restrictions imposed in MP

In view of the surge in cases, the government of Madhya Pradesh has imposed certain pandemic-mandated restrictions to curb and contain the sudden spurt in the state. While attendance at marriage and other functions have now been capped at 200, only 50 people are permitted to gather for funerals in the state. Moreover, no big fair can be organised in MP, read the order.
While most states have shut down schools keeping in mind the safety of children, schools in MP are allowed to continue offline classes but at a 50% capacity like before. Apart from this, the administration has directed officials to impose fines on all those found violating COVID-guidelines in public places.
With cases rising at such an alarming rate, the general public is advised to strictly adhere to all the stipulated protocols and avoid stepping out unnecessarily.
