Mumbai may finally see some respite from the heat, with India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting light rain and thundershowers for the city. The weather bureau has also issued a Yellow Alert for several districts across Maharashtra, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, moderate rainfall and gusty winds reaching up to 50 kmph.
Yellow Alert issued across several Maharashtra districts
IMD has placed multiple districts under a Yellow Alert, including Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Nashik and its ghat regions, Ahilyanagar, Pune and surrounding ghat areas, Kolhapur and its ghat belt, Satara and adjoining ghats, Sangli, Solapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani and Beed. These regions are likely to experience thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, moderate rainfall and gusty winds of 40-50 kmph at isolated locations.
Light rain likely in Mumbai and neighbouring areas

Mumbai, Thane, Jalgaon, Hingoli and Nanded are expected to receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers, according to the weather department. While widespread rainfall is not expected in Mumbai, intermittent showers could bring temporary relief from the humid conditions that have persisted across the city in recent weeks.
Mixed weather pattern across Maharashtra
While pre-monsoon showers and thunderstorms are expected across several districts, high temperatures continue to prevail across Maharashtra. Malegaon remained the hottest location in the state at 42°C, followed by Jalgaon at 41.6°C. Coastal regions reported comparatively lower temperatures, with Dahanu recording 38.1°C and Ratnagiri 33.9°C. Mumbai remained warm and sticky, with the Island City touching 36°C and the suburbs 35.5°C. Western Maharashtra also witnessed above-normal temperatures, including Solapur at 38.6°C, while Mahabaleshwar emerged as the coolest at 29.3°C
Meteorological observations indicate contrasting weather conditions across Maharashtra. While interior districts continue to experience intense heat, coastal regions and ghat areas remain vulnerable to thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds and intermittent rainfall as pre-monsoon activity strengthens across the state.
