Goa prepares itself ahead of the proposed national COVID-19 vaccination programme launch

Till the time the vaccine isn't released, kindly follow the issued protocols by the officials, to keep the COVID curve in check.

The administration of Goa has asked District Collectors to collect the data of health workers in public and private health facilities, as a preparatory effort before the national COVID-19 vaccination rollout. It is also strengthening the cold chain management in order to ensure delivery of vaccines to the remotest areas, for the timely administration of the vaccine to the targeted population.

Data collected to be uploaded on an online portal

On Wednesday, the Chief Secretary of Goa chaired the first meeting of the state-level steering committee, which was attended by top bureaucrats, health experts and members of civil society including presidents of Global Rotary International, Lions Club, among others. According to reports, the Collectors were asked to coordinate the data collection process, for the purpose of uploading the content on an online portal.

Further, the official statement mentioned. "Simultaneously, data collection and entry is ongoing with respect to other requirements such as cold chain maintenance and storage facilities, transport of vaccine, syringes availability, adequate and suitable vaccine administration personnel, location for vaccination while respecting the cold chain, etc."

Health workers & frontline workers will be given the first priority

As per the government guidelines, first priority of the vaccination program will be given to healthcare workers from the public and private health facilities, frontline workers including police, armed forces, home guards, civil defense officials, disaster management volunteers, municipal staff, amidst others.

This is a great step by the Goa administration, in order to strengthen the management of the cold chain for the COVID-19 vaccine. But till the time the vaccine isn't released, kindly follow the issued protocols by the officials, to keep the COVID curve in check because as of now, the state has reported a tally of 48,241 confirmed corona victims and 693 fatalities.
