Indore police officials undergo sign language training assuring justice for the disabled!

Special centres for speech and hearing disabled to come up in each MP city

In a bid to support citizens with speech or hearing disabilities, the police officials of Madhya Pradesh's Indore Division are being given training about the basics of sign language. Launched upon the directives of Indore Zone IG, the first-of-its-kind scheme in the nation will help in strengthening the law enforcement system by making it more inclusive. Reportedly, the police officers are being trained to understand hand signals, gestures, facial expressions and body language.

According to reports, the training program is being conducted by sign language experts, Gyanendra Purohit and Monica Purohit. Under this program, the police officers are being apprised about the need and significance of assuring justice to people with speech and hearing problems. As per reports, the police officials were informed about the need for an expert to record the complaints of aforesaid disabled individuals, through a focused presentation.

As per reports, the IG asked some officials from every police station to learn sign language. He also instructed the Superintendent of Police in Madhya Pradesh to set up a special booth in every station so that the citizens with speech and hearing disabilities can be benefitted. As of now, Indore's Tukoganj Police station has such a centre and, as per reports the training program is being organised for the officials from Khandwa, Khargone, Dhar, Jhabua and other regions of Indore Division.
