If you're a foodie living in Kanpur, there are a ton of options for you to check out, indulge in and relish. Kanpur is a haven for anyone who wants good food and if you're looking for something classic, this is where you need to look. With this list you will find the best of Kanpur, the most legendary outlets, everything which was 'viral' even before the term was coined.

So here are five of the most legendary outlets in Kanpur that you HAVE to try when in the city!

1. Pandit's

If you live in Kanpur, there's no way you have not come across a Pandit's restaurant. This vegetarian chain has taken over Kanpur and even if someone's in the city for a few hours, locals will direct them here. The place is known for its sweets, jalebi being the most legendary, and the vegetarian grub including choley bhature, aloo khaste and poodi sabji. If you somehow haven't been here, make it a point to try the vegetarian grub here al least once.

Location: Shastri Nagar, Tagore Road, Rai Purwa

2. Pahalwan Ji ka special mattha

Anyone who has visited the Nana Rao Park or has drove/walked across the road, knows that Pahalwan Ji and his kiosk are a legend. The iconic kiosk sells only a limited number of things including fresh mattha (buttermilk), fresh seed covered (often multigrain) bread and white butter. Breakfast in the city is incomplete without a mention of Pahalwan Ji and we wouldn't have it any other way!

Location: Nana Rao Park Main Gate, Phoolbag, Mall Road, Kanpur

3. Munna Samosa

The lovers of all things fried and spicy, flock the quaint joint of Munna Samosa. This little shop is known for its never-changing taste, the crispy and wafer-y samosa cover and a fluffy inside. A warm, crispy and golden samosa here is enough to satiate anyone's hunger qualms. Plus, they also serve mirchi vadas, gujhiya and khasta, so you won't get a better bang for your buck elsewhere in the city.

Location: 126/1, H Block, Govind Nagar, Kanpur

4. Chauuan Pandit Patties

If there's one thing Kanpurites love more than the crispy samosa cover, it is the crunchy layered filo pastry- Patties. Flaky on the outside, while deliciously warm and soft in the middle, these patties are the reason why we love Chauuan Pandit's hole-in-the-wall shop, to this day. Plus the patties come loaded with an accoutrement of toppings and who're we to say no to texture.

Location: 19 - A, Sabzi Mandi Main Road, Barra 2, Barra, Kanpur

5. Thaggu Ke Laddoo

Last but definitely the most iconic on this list. Thaggu Ke Laddoo is one of the most famous things about Kanpur. If there's one thing Kanpurites love more than the leather the city is so known for, it's Thaggu and his delicious, decadent laddoos. When in the city, you cannot miss out on Thaggu Ke Laddoo or even forget to get a few dabbas packed for your friends and family!

Location: Kakadeo, Tilak Nagar
