The Kanpur Smart City Limited (KSCL) has constantly been working on numerous infrastructural developments ranging from the construction of green power supply projects to other developments concerned with the expansion of commercial areas and zones of the city.
With a similar motive, a new convention centre is being constructed by the authority in the Chunniganj area of the city. Pertaining to the same the Kanpur city divisional commissioner, Dr. Raj Shekhar has asked the KSCL agency to complete the construction work by August 15 this year.
The convention centre will include state-of-the-art amenities

The multi-storeyed convention complex building will include premier facilities including a majestic auditorium consisting of two exhibition halls of 16,000 sq. ft. and 12,000 sq. ft., multiple conference rooms and luxe guest rooms, a food court spanning over an area of 8,000 sq. ft. and a large parking area with a capacity of 68 vehicles.
Furthermore, the building will further consist of amenities including a total of 8 lifts and 4 escalators while solar panels will be installed in most parts of the premises for green power generation. With this, the complex will also include a dedicated sewage treatment plant.
The district administration has also decided that the convention centre will function through a PPP model to ensure better maintenance and operations.
Construction work to be completed before Aug 15
The hyper-modern convention centre will boast state-of-the-art facilities and will be dedicated to public events and will also prove to be beneficial in highlighting the city as a favoured destination for hosting state and national-level events such as summits and conferences.
Reportedly, the construction of the convention centre is being done in two phases, along with this, 60% of the project has already been completed. The DC has further instructed the KSCL officials to invite tenders for the development of phase 2 within this week, to ensure the timely completion of the project.
