In a Government Order issued on August 6, the Principle Health Secretary has labeled medicine Ivermectin as effective in controlling and curing the infection caused due to the novel coronavirus. The order also entails the dosage and usage of the drug for the treatment of virus infected individuals.
For Precaution and Protection
A meeting presided by the Director General of Treatment and Health Services on August 4, with 10 technical specialists, discussed, regulated and green flagged the use of the Ivermectin drug in the treatment of Covid-19 patients and those susceptible to the virus. The Government Order has directed all the CMO and CMS across the state to use the tablet Ivermectin for treatment.
For people who have come in contact with positively tested individuals, and project a possibility to contract the virus, an average of 12 mg of medicine should be given to an adult patient on the 1st and 7th day of contact to control the transmission and infection of the virus. For protection among health care workers, medicine intake of similar dosage on the 1st, 7th and 30th day must be done. Based on the frequency of cases and contact, Ivermectin tablet can be prescribed once a month as precautions among medical staff.
The drug Ivermectin can also be used for the treatment of Covid-19 asymptomatic and mildly symptomatic patients. A dosage of an average of 12 mg based on 200mu/kg body weight can be prescribed. Intake of this drug measure for the first three days, 2 hours before dinner in active patients must be done. Along with this, another dose of 100 mu of Doxycyclin must be taken twice a day for 5 days. However, These drugs, however, cannot be given to pregnant ladies. Prescription of Ivermectin for children below the age of 2 and Doxycyclin for those below 12 is prohibited.
