The Uttar Pradesh Meteorological Department had earlier warned about rising temperatures and heatwave in some major parts of the state, including Lucknow, Kanpur and other UP districts. And now the latest update of pre monsoon showers has brought great respite for the citizens. As per the information issued, Kanpur, Kasganj, Mainpuri and 12 other UP districts will witness the same.
Monsoon might get delayed in UP
Additionally, weather in Lucknow is also expected to get better, as the city witnessed light pre-monsoon showers at isolated parts yesterday. As per IMD, more light rainfall is expected in Lucknow between 18th June to 20th June. This might bring slight relief to the severe heat that the city has been experiencing for the past couple of weeks.
Regardless of the state Meteorological department predicting light rain showers in Lucknow on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, the monsoon might enter Uttar Pradesh a couple of days late. The date indicated for the monsoon to hit Kerala was June 1st, but it arrived a couple of days ahead and lost its pace in Kerala.
“The change is that the weather is expected to start from Wednesday evening with skies becoming partly cloudy and thunderstorms in some parts of east UP. The phenomenon will cover other parts of the state, including the state capital, on Thursday followed by couple of days and several rounds of thunder showers are expected till Sunday.”

As per the UP IMD, District Magistrates of Kanpur, Kasganj, Sambhal, Farrukhabad, Mainpuri, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Etawah, Auraiya, Jalaun, Kannauj, Unnao, Chitrakoot, Kaushambi, Prayagraj and adjoining areas will witness light to moderate rainfall today.
