Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) is gearing up for a futuristic transportation overhaul! The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority has greenlighted the implementation of an Automated Rapid Transit Transport System, also known as Pod Taxi. With an estimated cost of Rs 1016.38 crores, this innovative project aims to combat the escalating traffic congestion within the complex.

Spanning a distance of 8.80 kilometres and comprising 38 stations, the ropeway-like system is poised to revolutionise travel between Bandra and Kurla via BKC. Each pod, accommodating up to six passengers comfortably, will operate at a maximum speed of 40 km per hour, providing a swift and convenient mode of transportation. between Bandra and Kurla via BKC.
The approval for this transformative initiative underscores a pivotal step towards enhancing connectivity and addressing the burgeoning transportation needs of the region. Set to be implemented on a Public-Private-Partnership basis, the project will include the establishment of a depot spanning 5000 square meters within BKC.
As the tender process for the appointment of an Independent Engineer organisation commences shortly, Mumbai anticipates the dawn of a new era in urban transportation, promising a smoother commute for all.
