Commuters on the Pune-Mumbai and Samruddhi Expressways will face higher toll charges from April 1, as part of the annual revision by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).
The Pune-Mumbai Expressway will see a 3% hike, while the Samruddhi Expressway will undergo a steeper 20% increase, driven by inflation and rising operational costs.
Prepare for higher toll rates from April
Toll rates on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway will increase by 3% from April 1. Four-wheelers will pay ₹5 more for a one-way trip and ₹10 extra for a round trip, while larger vehicles such as buses and trucks will face an average hike of ₹15-₹20.
Meanwhile, the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Expressway (Samruddhi Expressway) will witness a steeper hike of up to 20% hike. Under the revised toll rates, light vehicles will be charged ₹2.06 per km, up from ₹1.73. The toll for heavy vehicles with two axles will rise to ₹6.97 per km, while three-axle vehicles will pay ₹7.60 per km. Oversized vehicles with seven or more axles will face a toll of ₹13.30 per km, up from ₹11.17.
Once fully operational, car drivers traveling the entire Mumbai-Nagpur stretch on the Samruddhi Expressway will pay ₹1,445. Currently, 625 km of the 701 km expressway is open, with the final 76 km stretch from Igatpuri to Aamne expected to open within a month.
