Mumbai Police have deployed 11,000 personnel, including 9,145 constables and 1,767 officers, to ensure a safe and incident-free Holi festival. With Holi bonfires set for Thursday evening and the main festival of colours on Friday, the police will closely monitor activities like spraying coloured water, throwing balloons, and drunken brawls.
No obscene acts, no rowdyism
Officials have prohibited obscene words, slogans, songs, and gestures in public on March 12 and 13. Additionally, displaying offensive pictures, symbols, or placards that violate public decency is banned. Security will be monitored round-the-clock by 51 Assistant Commissioners, 19 Deputy Commissioners, and 7 Additional Commissioners of Police.
Special teams, including the State Reserve Police Force, Riot Control Police, Quick Response Teams, and Bomb Detection Squads, will be stationed at key locations. Police will also set up security blockades and launch a drive against drunk driving and traffic violations.
Strict action will be taken against those creating public disturbances, misbehaving with women and children, or violating the ban on throwing coloured water and balloons at pedestrians. The aim is to ensure a joyful yet safe Holi for all Mumbaikars.
