After mucormycosis, 3 cases of 'Bone Death' documented as a post-COVID complication in Mumbai

As per the latest reports, three confirmed cases of Avascular Necrosis (AVN) or death of bone tissues, after contracting COVID-19, have been reported in Mumbai. After the outbreak of mucormycosis or black fungus, experts are labelling AVN as the next debilitating condition among post-COVID patients.

It is expected that in the upcoming months, more cases of AVN can surface. Further, to treat the rising cases of black fungus in the country, the central government has distributed another 2,12,540 vials of Amphotericin-B among states and UTs.

Black fungus treatment rates capped at all private hospitals in Mumbai & other Maha districts

Ushering in economic relief for all those under the pandemic and post-pandemic whip, the Maharashtra government on Friday regulated to cap the treatment cost of black fungus infection at private hospitals. The aid will extend up to July 31 and will also limit the rates of various surgical procedures listed for black fungus, read reports. Granted by the Health Ministry, the subsidised medication will provide a huge relief to the common man.

Pre-identified hospitals in Mumbai & other Maha districts to offer free black fungus treatment now

In a bid to ease the treatment of post-COVID ailments across Maharashtra, the state government has decided to provide free treatment for mucormycosis infection. On Monday, the administration told the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court that it will cover the treatment for black fungus under the Mahatma Jotiba Phule Jan Aarogya Yojana and the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) across the state territory. As per reports, pre-identified hospitals and nursing homes in Maharashtra will offer zero-cost treatment under the healthcare schemes.
