Goa curfew extended till 5th July due to rising threat of Delta Plus variant of COVID-19

Earlier, the curfew in Goa was scheduled to be lifted in the morning hours of June 28. However, on Saturday, the Chief Minister of Goa informed via Twitter that the state-level curfew will be extended till 5th July. This decision has been taken as a precautionary measure against the Delta Plus variant of COVID-19. While no cases of this new strain have been reported in Goa as of yet, its neighbouring state Maharashtra has recorded 21 cases, which is the highest tally noted among all states in India.

Goa slashes COVID-19 treatment costs in private hospitals to foster affordability & augment reach

On Friday, the Goa government slashed the existing COVID-19 treatment cost in private hospitals, keeping in view the steep scarp in infections in the state. Consequently, now the treatment of a coronavirus victim in a general ward of a private healthcare facility will cost ₹8,000, per day, in comparison to the earlier amount of ₹10,000. Corresponding reductions have been effectuated for other akin private medical services as well.

In wake of surging test requests, Goa to charge for RT-PCR examination done for travel purposes

Goa will not be conducting any coronavirus test for travel purposes and those willing to get tested can get it done by paying the charges at district hospitals. The decision was taken after a surge in test requests by people from Maharashtra, who have been staying or holidaying here, since their state has made RT-PCR negative report mandatory for people coming in from Goa.
