In a bid to tighten its grip over the spread of COVID, District Magistrate of Indore has directed officials to undertake proper precautionary measures aimed to avoid the entry of the new Omicron variant in the city. On December 4, the Airport Authority of India had issued state-wise international and domestic travel guidelines across India. Read on to check the guidelines effective at Indore's Devi Ahilya Bai Airport at present.
Thermal screening mandatory for all passengers
All the passengers arriving and departing from the Devi Ahilya Bai Airport in Indore will have to undergo thermal screening and health profiling. Passengers are also required to download and update their status on the Aarogya Setu app as well. If found symptomatic, passengers will have to undertake a COVID test at the designated COVID centres. According to the guidelines issued by the state health department, home quarantine is mandatory for passengers who test positive for COVID.
Special guidelines for passengers arriving from 'at-risk' countries
International passengers arriving from 'at-risk' countries that test negative on arrival are supposed to undergo a mandatory home quarantine for 7 days and take a test for COVID again on the 8th day again. Meanwhile, as per the standard laid-down procedure, those who turn positive upon arrival from these countries will be taken for institutional quarantine. Apart from this, the contacts of these patients will also be put under home or institutional quarantine as per the existing guidelines
With fresh COVID cases increasing every day, the risk of the Omicron variant entering the city goes up as well. While emphasising on vaccination, the administration has urged the general public to strictly follow all the stipulated protocols in order to steer clear from this infection.
