IIT Kanpur introduces two new centres of learning & research

Kanpur's premier technology institute has leased its expertise to formally launch two major centres of learning and research. The two units, namely the Shivani Centre for the Nurture and Re-Integration of Hindi and Other Indian Languages' at IIT Kanpur and 'Chandrakanta Kesavan Centre for Energy Policy and Climate Solutions' have been generously aided by the IIT for the benefit of its alumni, read reports. With this, the institute aims to bring a diverse range of subjects under its excellence that'll carve out an inclusive space to conduct specialised research programmes.

Kanpur to get a new elevated road between Civil Lines & Ghantaghar Chauraha

In an attempt to improve the traffic situation in Kanpur, the city authorities have come up with a new initiative. As a part of this project, an elevated road will be constructed on a stretch running between UP Stock Exchange in Civil Lines and the Ghantaghar Chauraha. Reportedly, a high-level development committee will prepare the framework for this elevated road, which will be a four-lane stretch supported by the road pillars.

IIT Kanpur alumnus develops portable & economical oxygen can for quick relief!

Amid the country's battle against the pandemic, the oxygen crisis has unfolded in horrifying ways. In an attempt to amplify the available resources, an IIT Kanpur alumnus has developed a lightweight and portable oxygen can called 'Oxyrise', which can be easily carried, just like a sanitiser. Developed by Dr. Sandip Patil of E-spin Nanotech Private Limited, the small cans have the capacity of storing 10 litres of oxygen, reportedly.

IIT Kanpur & Defence Ministry develop CPGRAMS, govt's first AI-powered grievance redressal app

In an innovative update, the Indian Institute of Technology at Kanpur, has developed an AI-powered grievance management application, in association with the Ministry of Defence. Known as Centralised Public Grievance Redress and Monitoring System (CPGRAMS), this data science and machine learning-based network is the first-of-its-kind automation adopted by the government to sort through public complaints. An advanced tool, this app has the capability to understand the content of the complaint and categorise it as repeated grievance or spam, accordingly.
