After the start of the admission process at Lucknow University, a record-breaking figure of 73,084 applications was registered at the varsity. While 63,944 applications were logged for the 2020-21 academic session, the tally has spiked up remarkably with a hike of 14.3% in just one year. Further, the count of applications for undergraduate courses surged up from 44,252 in 2020 to a total of 48,022 forms received this year.
Undergraduate applications rise by 8.5% compared to the last year
Strikingly, the applications for the undergraduate program witnessed a hike of 8.5%. Besides, the count of forms for post-graduate courses increased from 19,367 in 2020 to 24,397 for the current academic session, thereby registering a spike of 26%. Additionally, the number of applications has more than doubled for diploma and certificate courses.
Lucknow University Vice-Chancellor Alok Rai attributed this to the growing popularity of the varsity. With the introduction of revamped courses under the New Education Policy 2020, large crowds of students are flocking for admissions at the university. Under the new policy, multiple entry-exit points, academic bank of credit, and inter-disciplinary education have found a place in the curriculum.

Further, the 100% results of many educational boards have increased the number of college aspirants. Consequently, this fueled up the applications at the varsity. As per officials, the admission window remained open for nearly 5 months this year due to the pandemic delay and this also contributed to increased applications.
Dean, academic, Prof Rakesh Chandra said, "LU has been able to brand itself by scoring high in academic rankings due to better placements, quality research and teaching. We are also the first to adopt NEP."
