The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has waged a targeted war against the COVID-19 pandemic by levying penalties on people who are flouting the mandatory mask norm. The civic body has, until now, retrieved approximately ₹65 crores as fines from those found 'mask-less' in public places. As per reports, the no-mask fine in Mumbai is marked at ₹200 to ensure a stricter guard against coronavirus amid the emergent rise of fresh cases and the anticipatory threat of the 'third wave'.

Private hospitals in Mumbai to conduct COVID vaccination drive in slums

The Brihanumumbai Municipal Corporation has kickstarted its agenda on looping in private hospitals to expand the COVID vaccination coverage in Mumbai slums. As per reports, the Additional Municipal Commissioner (AMC) of the civic body has held talks with a couple of medical institutes in the city who have assured of an adequate number of doses and their willingness to vaccinate slum-dwellers. 7 lakes in Mumbai break previous years' record by logging a total of 64% water stock

In figures, these lakes now collectively tank 936,933 million litres (ML) of water, which is pegged to sustain Mumbai's requirements for over 220 days. All wards in Mumbai to get their own drive-in COVID vaccination centres to avoid overcrowding!

After the effective success of Mumbai's first drive-in vaccination centre at Dadar, the BMC has decided to expand the initiative and set up a similar service across each ward. Reportedly, at least 7 wards in the city are slated to kickstart drive-through inoculation services by tomorrow as per the directives issued by the BMC Municipal Commissioner on Thursday. These centres will specially cater to senior citizens, but only on an appointment basis. These beneficiaries no longer need to step out of their vehicles to get the vaccine.
