Citizens aged 60-plus in Mumbai can walk in from May 17-19 to get their second dose of COVID jab

In a bid to complete the vaccination course of those beneficiaries who have already got the first COVID jab in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to permit walk-ins from May 17 to May 19. During this course, all 195 vaccination centres across the MMR will administer the second dose of Covishield to all age groups and COVAXIN to those over 60 years without mandatory prior online registration. The civic body has informed that no individual can get the first dose of vaccine in these 3 days.

All wards in Mumbai to get their own drive-in COVID vaccination centres to avoid overcrowding!

After the effective success of Mumbai's first drive-in vaccination centre at Dadar, the BMC has decided to expand the initiative and set up a similar service across each ward. Reportedly, at least 7 wards in the city are slated to kickstart drive-through inoculation services by tomorrow as per the directives issued by the BMC Municipal Commissioner on Thursday. These centres will specially cater to senior citizens, but only on an appointment basis. These beneficiaries no longer need to step out of their vehicles to get the vaccine.

COVID-19 recoveries in Mumbai surge over double the number of fresh cases on Tuesday!

The COVID-19 infection tally dipped further to 2,554 cases in Mumbai on Tuesday, stabilising the second wave surge here. While this has been logged in as the lowest tally since mid-March, the escalating recoveries in Mumbai also add to the healing trends. In the last 24 hours, the recuperative rate in Mumbai surged over double the case count, awarding as many as 5,982 discharged. At present, the active caseload of the Financial Capital stands at 56,465 infections, the third-highest in Maharashtra.

BMC flags off 94 COVID vaccination centres in Mumbai on Monday to boost immunity amid COVID surge

Amid the persistent threat of the coronavirus spread in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued a list of all vaccination centres which are operational in the city. As per this list, 94 such centres across the MMR are administering the COVID-19 vaccine in a bid to foster a ramped up immunogenic response. This list also includes private as well as Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) centres.

BMC to convert Mumbai's Jumbo Hospitals into mega COVID-19 vaccination centres

To prepare Mumbai ahead of the COVID-19 vaccination drive, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has decided to convert jumbo field hospitals in the city into mega vaccination centres. These elaborate units were set-up in the city to shoulder the coronavirus cases when they were peaking in the city. However, with a sharp decline in the number of active cases now, these centres are lying vacant and thus, the BMC has planned to use these structures in the immunisation drive.
