Connecting Mumbai to Gujarat, Western Railway starts 5 Unreserved Special Trains

Facilitating an easier commute for daily travellers, Western Railway has started five Unreserved Special Trains to different destinations over its Mumbai Division. In view of the rise in passenger load during the year-end, the western zone of Indian Railway has initiated this special service connecting Maharashtra and Gujarat, starting today. Reportedly, this train will run on five routes including Bandra, Valsad, Virar, Vapi and Surat. Read on to check the schedule of these trains.

42 special trains to be made operational in Maharashtra ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi

In a bid to provide safe and efficient travel to all, Western Railway (WR) has decided to increase the frequency of festival special trains in Maharashtra, as Ganesh Chaturthi is right around the corner. The Chief Public Relations Officer, Sumit Thakur, on Friday informed that 4 additional special trains have been scheduled for commute towards the Konkan regions, considering the festive rush. With this, a total of 42 special trains will be at the public's disposal in September 2021.

Mumbai Local-trains prepare to reopen full-services on January 29; official state orders awaited

Following a meeting chaired by the Maharashtra Chief Minister and top-bureaucrats, on the reopening of local trains for all commuters, the Western Railways has begun to chalk out a plan to resume full-services, with 1,367 transits in a day by January 29. Though the railway board is still awaiting the official orders, various ways to reopen locals for all are being worked upon, wherein permissions to all commuters may be granted soon, during non-peak hours initially.

Students appearing for exams in Mumbai permitted to travel in Local trains till December 10

Students appearing for Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Education examinations, along with other teaching and non-teaching staff, are now permitted to travel in the Mumbai locals. Students must carry their hall tickets and identity cards are also mandatory. The permission has been granted effective immediately and is valid till December 10.
