A recent survey conducted among first-time voters in Maharashtra highlights climate action as a pivotal factor, influencing political preferences. The survey, titled ‘Perception of First-Time Voters on Climate Education in India,’ indicates that 52.2% of respondents prioritize climate education as a government strategy to combat the climate crisis effectively.
Conducted in collaboration with Asar Social Impact Advisors, the Climate Educators Network, and CMSR Consultants, the survey engaged 1600 voters from Maharashtra, Delhi, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, with 400 respondents from Mumbai and Pune.
While Maharashtra’s respondents rate environmental education positively, they stress the need for more comprehensive curriculum integration, urging practical solutions and unbiased education. This underscores a growing demand for political commitment to climate issues among voters.
