The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) on Friday launched public trials of e-bike services in Mumbai to boost end-to-end connectivity. The demo-runs have commenced from all key-bus stops in the city, providing regular commuters with a smart means to easily reach their destination. Once the service is fully operational, e-bikes will be reportedly integrated with the BEST Chalo App, for the benefit of BEST bus pass and Super Saver plans users.
What are the key benefits of this service?
The BEST has emerged to be India’s first and only bus transport operator to offer an integrated first and last mile service. It has set up e-bike statons at major bus stops in Mumbai, linked with residential and commerical sites in vicinity to offer a pollution-free transportation solution to the people of Mumbai.
When a commuter deboards a bus at any of the e-bike linked stops, they can use these services to reach their destinations. The service will offer the following benefits:

It may be noted that the speed of the e-bikes is limited to 25 KM/Hour, which makes them safe for city commutes and use. Besides, the service is priced economically. The base fare for these e-bikes is ₹20, with ₹3 per km travelled and ₹1.50 per minute, a civic release read.
