AMC has planted 11.35 lakh trees as a part of its Mission Million Trees
The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has initiated a campaign to plant over 3 million trees during the monsoon season, aiming to enhance the city’s green cover. Within 23 days, 11.35 lakh trees have already been planted across various areas.
More than 1600 residents have applied for trees through the municipal corporation’s garden department and service app, with over 900 societies receiving tree allocations. Species like Neem, Pipla, and Gulmahor are prominently featured in this greening initiative.
Unexpected green cover on Sabarmati River
On Monday, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation released water from the Sabarmati River to preempt heavy rainfall, only to find much of the river’s surface covered by water hyacinth the next day.
