Amdavadis brace for intense summer as temperature predicted to soar to 41°C
With Gujarat witnessing a sharp rise in temperatures, Ahmedabad is expected to touch 41°C on Monday, marking the arrival of peak summer. The minimum temp also reached to 21.9°C on the 23rd of March. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has reported dry conditions across the state, with maximum temperatures climbing in Saurashtra.

Kharicut canal to be redeveloped into a six-lane corridor by 2027
City’s British-era Kharicut Canal, long neglected and reduced to a dumping ground, is set for a major transformation. The state government has allocated ₹1,003 crore for phase 2 of the redevelopment project, which will convert 28 km of the canal into a six-lane mobility corridor by 2027.
This initiative aims to improve north-south connectivity while tackling the city’s drainage and flooding issues through a new stormwater pipeline. The canal, which stretches from Raipur village to Chandola Lake, has faced severe pollution due to industrial waste, making this redevelopment a crucial step in urban planning.
27+ trains passing through Ahmedabad fully or partially cancelled
At least 27 trains passing through Ahmedabad were fully or partially cancelled on Monday after a mobile gantry crane, used in the Ahmedabad-Mumbai Bullet Train project, skidded from its position and collapsed near railway tracks in Vatva.
