Started by Usha Birmie in 1995
The spot was started by Usha Birmie in 1995 as a small shop near Panjrapol, selling stuffed parathas to a city didn’t have many authentic Punjabi spots. The shop quickly became a favourite among students from nearby institutes, and the menu grew in response to their tastes.
By 2005, Birmies was already a household name, but running the business alone was a challenge. That’s when her husband, Keshav, left his steady job to join her. Today, Birmies operates multiple flagship restaurants.
