With the Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) set to open soon, the crucial link connecting it to the Atal Setu sea bridge is rapidly taking shape. The City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) has announced that 60% of the work on the 7-km, six-lane Ulwe Coastal Road is complete.

The 7-km, six-lane road, which includes a 5.8-km coastal stretch and a 0.9-km Airport Link Road (ALR), is set to ease traffic congestion and enhance accessibility to critical infrastructure, including the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) and the Navi Mumbai Special Economic Zone (NMSEZ).
This coastal road is expected to significantly reduce travel times between South Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, while also providing seamless connectivity to the NMIA terminal. Experts believe the project will play a crucial role in improving both freight and passenger movement in the region. With advanced engineering techniques, including the use of prefabricated drains and smart traffic management, the project aims to meet environmental and sustainability goals.
Once completed, the Ulwe Coastal Road will serve as a transformative urban infrastructure, boosting regional economic growth while ensuring resilient, climate-conscious mobility.
