In a major power-saving move, the Uttar Pradesh government has decided to install solar plants at nearly 66 State Industrial Training Institutes across several districts. This new provision will facilitate an uninterrupted power supply round the clock, at economical rates. Altogether, the move will provide better facilities to the students for conducting practical and experimental works at the ITIs.

In a green upgrade, around 66 ITIs across UP will now get solar power panels for generating electricity. As informed by the Vocational Education and Skill Development Department spokesman, each power plant will have the capacity to generate up to 40KW of power through the day. This will effectively patch up the rural electricity deficit at the 66 ITIs in the state.
Recently, around 44 new ITIs were established in the state for the skill development of the students. With the setting up these institutes, more than 58,000 seats have been created. With this, over 300 government ITIs are presently operating in the state, the majority of which are located in rural areas. It may be noted that a slew of developments and upgrades are planned at all these centres, which will initiate the installation of solar plants.
The scheme is said to benefit over 1.19 lakh students in UP, streamlining resources for setting up online classes and related digital work. It will simultaneously create independent energy sources in rural and remote areas of the state, harnessing technical development.
