Gujarat introduces stricter safety rules for amusement rides and game zones

In response to the Rajkot game zone fire, the Gujarat government has drafted new safety regulations called the “Gujarat Amusement Rides and Gaming Zone Activities (Safety) Rules 2024.” These rules designate district magistrates or police commissioners as the sole authorities to issue licenses for game zones and amusement rides.

Licenses will be valid for two years, requiring renewal thereafter. This initiative aims to enhance safety standards and ensure thorough compliance with safety protocols.

AMC proposes new food safety bylaws

For the first time, AMC has proposed its own food safety bylaws. These regulations, awaiting approval from the civic body’s elected wing and the state government, aim to strengthen food safety standards.

The proposed bylaws will mandate that restaurants submit food samples monthly, enabling the AMC to maintain records of served items and conduct targeted inspections. Additionally, the AMC will have the authority to verify water quality during the food outlet licensing process.

Municipality to expands electric vehicle charging network

To reduce pollution and promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs), the municipality has launched EV charging stations at 12 locations through public-private partnerships (PPP). Plans are underway to expand this network to 27 additional sites, pending approval from the Standing Committee.

Adani Total Energy e-Mobility has proposed establishing stations at 24 locations, while EVamp Technology will cover three. The West Zone will see the most additions with 13 new stations, while the South Zone will get one.
