The story behind the name Noboru is just as charming as the place itself. Inspired by Noboru Watanabe, the missing cat in Haruki Murakami’s short story “The Wind-Up Bird and Tuesday’s Women”, the restaurant captures that same playful spirit. The name also appears in other Murakami works, such as the name of an elderly zookeeper in “The Elephant Vanishes”.
Just like its namesake, Noboru brings a sense of whimsy and charm, reflected in everything from its quaint interiors to its adorable branding. It’s quirky, it’s fun, and it’s got just the right amount of cultural flair!
