In a bid to spread awareness around menstrual health and hygiene in the city, Lucknow Metro has collaborated with the Desai Foundation, PinkiShee Foundation and Robinhood Army, to embark on a 5-day campaign. The Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Campaign will take place at five major metro stations, including that of Hazratganj, Bhootnath, Charbagh, Vishwavidyalaya and Alambagh.

Slated to conclude on May 26, the campaign will see installation of sanitary napkin stalls at these stations. Moreover, volunteers from Desai Foundation will educate travellers about the importance of menstrual hygiene, ahead of Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 27.

Join the campaign sessions and spread the word further

Besides the aforementioned measures, there will be awareness sessions throughout the campaign wherein all attendees will be given complimentary sanitary napkins. Books, posters and other description material will be distributed, too, so that the participants can disperse and educate more people further.

These sessions will revolve around the significance of using sanitary napkins, bust myths and misconceptions connected to menstruation and numerous support tools to aid in menstruation.

On this occasion, Managing Director, UPMRC Sushil Kumar shared, “Menstrual hygiene is a very sensitive issue and due to stigmas attached to it, even today the problems and solutions related to it are not discussed on public forums. I am proud that Lucknow Metro has always made efforts to initiate dialogue in this direction through various events at our metro stations."
