Amid the rise in the cases of COVID-19 in neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Kerala, the administration in Goa is now on an alert. While Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on Tuesday claimed the region to be 100% ready to tackle the ‘third wave’ surge of corona virus, he has highlighted the need to raise the defence guard and caution against the resurgence. The state has prepared human as well as infrastructure resources to fight the spike, the Minister clarified.
People need to be on COVID alert, says CM
Tagged as the most COVID-dense states in India as of now, both Maharashtra and Kerala have reported the maximum number of cases in recent times. This conseqnuently amplifies troubles for Goa that geographically lies between the two states. “Our neighbouring states of Maharashtra and Kerala have alerted their people, because the maximum cases at present are in Kerala and Maharashtra. Maharashtra has started imposing the curfew in a big way,” the CM said during a function here.
The CM then utilised this opportunity to urge people to stay on an infection alert while assuring about the relevant state’s preparations to curb the transmission rate. In a statement, he stated that “We are fully prepared, but people also have to be fully prepared. No one had thought that the second wave would strike to such a degree. We need to be alert.”
Goa has improved the COVID-19 management system
Meanwhile, the CM also informed how Goa has augmented a better medical infrastructure and fostered a streamline human network to improve the COVID-19 management. “Whatever infrastructure and human required for Covid management, we have fully prepared. We are 100 percent prepared for both,” he added.
“I am mentioning human resources, because in case the third wave strikes, then whatever training required as far as human resources go, like doctors, staff for paramedical staff, even as far as ambulances go, we are ready. The network which needs to be readied in this sector, we have prepared throughout Goa,” the CM concluded.
