If you’re travelling between Kanpur and Lucknow via train, get ready for a long disruption. From April 1 to May 13, a 42-day mega block is in place on the Ganga bridge’s down line for urgent track repairs, old sleepers are being replaced with steel H-beams to make the route safer and stronger.
During this period, 17 trains will be fully cancelled, including the 64214 Kanpur-Lucknow MEMU and the 55346 Kasganj-Lucknow Passenger. Over 29 trains, like the Swarna Shatabdi and Ayodhya Vande Bharat, will be rerouted via Moradabad instead of Kanpur while heading to Delhi. Some trains, like the 12107 Superfast Express, will be delayed by over three hours. However, the up line will still run, but with limits. Passengers can get full refunds or reschedule. Railway officials say safety isn’t negotiable, so expect slow traffic but a stronger bridge afterward.
