The sky is clear, there is a noticeable change in air quality and the internet is flooded with videos of fauna returning to their habitats. Amidst all these pleasant changes that are helping people stay positive and sane in these tough times, is a new picture straight from Jalandhar, Punjab.
The nationwide lockdown has resulted in a decrease in pollution levels resulting in improved air quality, so much that folks in Jalandhar could clearly see the Dhauladhar mountain range, which is approximately 200km from the place. The pollution has dropped to its lowest in 30 years and the pictures are mesmerising.
The incident took place on Friday and a lot of people took to their social media accounts to share the beautiful pictures. There are many more videos, showing animals barging in human establishments and enjoying their time without any hinderance.
Lockdown impacts the environment in a big way!
The world’s largest lockdown has led to the shut down of all factories, markets, shops, and places of worship, most public transport is suspended and the construction work has been put on halt too. All this has impacted the economy and has put a lot of people’s live at risk and the only positive to take from here is the reduced pressure on our environment.
The practice of social distancing has put us at our homes and made us realise what harm we did to the environment and the change that’s now happening should motivate us to do something to maintain this balance, after the pandemic is taken care of.
