In order to facilitate improved traffic flow in Indore, Jawhar Marg and MG Road have been formally declared one-way roads. Now that the road from Nandlalpura to Rajmohalla and Bada Ganpati to Krishnapura Chhatri is one-way, cars are limited to traveling in that specific direction, and not opposite it. The move, which originated as a simple trial, is now in effect.
During a recent meeting, the Road Safety Committee discussed strategies to eliminate dark zones in order to reduce accidents, among other issues. Installation of traffic signals at designated intersections in the city is in progress.
Another important point of discussion was the impending prohibition on the registration of new e-rickshaws due to the excessive number of these vehicles already present in the city. Following discussions with pertinent associations, the e-auto rickshaw route determination process and new route proposals are under way.
Also, the meeting discussed matters relating to parking for owners of central market shops, with a focus on correct parking practices and resolving concerns regarding the parking of sand dumpers on Devguradia Road.
