Being the cleanest city in the country, Indore has incessantly won a number of accomplishments given its proactive approach and enterprising initiatives. In the latest string of developments, the city has clinched the top spot amongst all municipalities with a population of more than 1 million in a survey conducted recently. While Indore has ranked 1st in the Municipal Performance Index, it secured the 9th rank in the Ease of Living Index 2020, in a study organised by the central government.
Boosting Indore’s morale for ‘Swachcha Survekshan Award’

Reportedly, the Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister released the Municipal Performance Index Report, which judged 114 municipal corporations and assigned different ranks to them. This study attempted to explore the functioning of the various civic bodies in an array of fields.
The works and projects of the civic bodies were assessed in spheres of service distribution, civil planning, financial systems and administration practices. With the latest achievement, the city has boosted its morale as it is gearing up to win the ‘Swachcha Survekshan Award’ for the fifth time in a streak.
As per reports, other million-plus municipalities that have secured spots in the top 10 include Surat, Bhopal, Pimpri Chinchwad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Raipur, Greater Mumbai, Vishakhapatnam and Vadodra.
NDMC wins the first spot in municipalities with less than 1 million citizens
The Union Government had released two separate lists based on the population of the municipalities. Amidst the municipalities having a population of less than a million, New Delhi Municipal Council secured first place while Tirupati and Gandhinagar missed the top spot by small margins. Among the lowest-ranked municipalities of this list were Shillong, Imphal and Kohima.
