Jaipur Metro Phase 1B soon to become a reality; gets October deadline

Public transport in Jaipur is, as of now, lackluster to say the least. City buses are in a rather bad shape and commuters have to opt for either auto rickshaws, which are quite expensive if you’re travelling over long distances or e-rickshaws. Jaipur metro is still one of the better ways to traverse the city which is why the news of Jaipur getting another metro route is a welcoming one. Metro’s phase 1B will be operational by October 2019.

What’s the update?

The foundation stone of Jaipur’s metro was first laid down in 2013, and the work was completed in 2015. The metro began operations in the same year and covers a total of 9 stations. Phase 1B of the metro is coming up soon and it will connect even more areas in the city.

The work of platform of metro station at Chandpole, Choti Chaupar and Badi Chaupar is being completed, tracks are completed, electrification work is almost done. Commuters will now have more options to enter the metro stations and where their exit points are.

As of now, safety inspections have been carried out and authorities have passed on the order to get the work done faster and without any delay.

What is Phase 1B’s route?

Phase 1B of the Jaipur Metro is the extension of the existing Pink Line. The extended route will connect a new area and a different entry point at Chandpole Station will be built. The new station will be at Badi Chaupar, which is about 2.5 kilometers from the existing station at Chandpole.

When Phase 1B of Jaipur Metro is complete in October, the total number of functioning metro stations will increase from 9 to 10, which is a great feat. The addition of Badi Chaupar to the same route is a boon for residents as it connects them to more areas.

As per the actual dates that we set in 2013, the goal was to have the entire metro rail network up and running in just 2 years, but those plans were not met.

At any rate, Jaipur’s public transport is seeing a major overhaul and we’re welcoming it with open arms.
