Amid the high threat of COVID-19 spread across the country, Jaipur is witnessing a downward trend in the number of new cases, which can be credited to a stabilised transmission rate. The city recorded 2,878 new COVID-19 cases on Monday and even though this tally is quite high, it is marginally lower than the previous days and is definitely a welcome relief. At present, there are about 29,388 active cases in Jaipur, where areas such as Jhotwara, Pratapnagar, Malviya Nagar and Mansarovar have emerged as the worst-hit regions.

Jaipur has managed to gain a slight grip on the spiralling rise of coronavirus cases here, as notified by the official records. In the last 4 days, the count of fresh cases has converged to lower numbers, bringing some respite from the second wave swell. On April 23, about 3036 cases were logged in here followed by 3260 cases and 3145 cases in the next two days, respectively. However, Monday’s count of fresh cases has been marked at 2,878, highlighting a steady dip.
At the same time, recoveries also saw a significant rise on Monday, totalling up to 961 discharges. As yet, about 67,336 patients have been treated for the COVID infection in Jaipur. About 11 deaths were noted here in the last 24 hours and the toll now stands at 638 death, the highest across Rajasthan.
Meanwhile, 9,68,783 vaccination doses have been administered here since the beginning of the national inoculation drive on January 16, 2021. As approved by the Centre, the third phase of the immunity drive will begin here on May 1, targetted at people aged between 18 to 45 years. This will expand the city’s defence against the infection penetration and further aid in containing the virus spread.
