Kanpur has a reputation, industrial city, leather and textiles, not exactly the first place that comes to mind when someone says “cheesecake capital.” And yet somewhere in the last couple of years, that’s basically what’s happened, quietly, without anyone officially announcing it. Seven spots into this list and there’s already a Kunafa cheesecake, a Mango Biscoff nobody saw coming, and a place literally named after chocolate ganache whose best flavour isn’t chocolate at all. Some bakeries stuck to the classics — New York style, straightforward blueberry. Others clearly decided the assignment was “surprise us.” Seven places, zero consensus on what cheesecake should actually taste like, and honestly, that’s the fun part.
Z Bakers

Every bakery in Kanpur claims their cheesecake “melts in your mouth.” Z Bakers just quietly makes one that does. Three slices, three arguments: Oreo for the ones who never grew out of dunking biscuits in milk, Mango for people who think summer deserves better than mango shakes, and Belgian Chocolate for anyone who takes dessert a little too seriously. Nothing here is trying too hard, no glitter, no gold leaf, just cheesecake that knows exactly what it’s supposed to taste like, and does.

Cheesecake Factory

The name promises a factory’s worth of options. What you actually get is flavours, chosen carefully instead of thrown together, blueberry for the fruity crowd, Nutella and hazelnut for anyone who thinks chocolate needs backup, a straightforward chocolate for purists, and Biscoff for whoever’s currently obsessed with it everyone, lately. No overwhelming menu to scroll through, no decision paralysis. Just five ways to eat cheesecake in Kanpur, each one clearly worked on rather than just added for the sake of it. Occasionally, less really is more.

The Bite Basket

“The Bite Basket” sounds like a place for quick snacks, nothing too serious. Then the cheesecake menu shows up and quietly contradicts the name, Biscoff, chocolate, tiramisu, blueberry, each one clearly not treated as a side hustle. The tiramisu in particular has no business being this good at a spot with such a casual name. Biscoff does what Biscoff always does now, which is disappear fastest. Nothing about this menu says “just a bite.” Everything about it says someone here takes cheesecake more seriously than the branding lets on.

Ganache- Patisserie & Tea Room

You’d expect the place called Ganache to peak at chocolate, and the Nutella Ferrero Rocher slice does make a solid case for that theory. Then Mango Biscoff shows up on the same menu and quietly steals the conversation instead, an odd pairing that works better than it has any right to. Blueberry and the standard Biscoff slice hold down familiar ground for anyone not in an experimental mood. Ganache’s real strength isn’t the name-matching chocolate option, it’s the flavour nobody expected to love.

The Cake Crumbles

A “crumble” is technically a whole separate dessert category, and yet The Cake Crumbles has apparently decided to skip that entirely and go all in on cheesecake instead, no oats, no fruit-and-crumb topping in sight, just three cheesecakes doing the actual talking. Lotus Biscoff leads the pack, unsurprisingly, dense and spiced enough to justify the hype it gets everywhere now. Nutella keeps things classic for anyone not on the Biscoff bandwagon yet. Blueberry cuts through both with the only real tartness on the menu. Wrong dessert, right name anyway, nobody’s complaining.

Theobroma

Theobroma built its name on brownies, so it’s almost rude how good their Blueberry Cheesecake Jar is without even trying to compete. No flex, no fanfare, just cream cheese doing its quiet, tangy job under a blueberry layer that isn’t shy about being tart. It’s the kind of jar you order “just to try” and then find yourself scraping with a spoon, past the point of dignity, past the point of sharing. Kanpur didn’t need another brownie recommendation. It needed this.

7th Heaven

Most no-bake cheesecake menus stop at two flavours and call it a day. This one goes three deep, strawberry, hazelnut, blueberry, before throwing in a Lotus Biscoff for anyone who wants the baked version’s density anyway. Hazelnut’s the real surprise of the four, less common than the usual chocolate-adjacent picks and worth trying before defaulting to Biscoff out of habit. Strawberry and blueberry cover the fruity ground reliably. Four cheesecakes, one clear standout nobody expected going in.

Sidewalk

Cheesecake toppings are usually a cold, static affair, a drizzle, a crumble, done. Sidewalk’s mini Basque cheesecake breaks that pattern by serving the hazelnut warm, which sounds like a small detail until it’s actually in front of you. Biscoff holds down the familiar end of the menu for anyone not ready to experiment. The Basque one is where the actual thinking went. Small menu, one genuinely smart decision.

THF

THF’s cheesecake menu reads like a timeline of dessert trends, blueberry for the classic base, Lotus Biscoff because it’s non-negotiable in 2026, and Kunafa cheesecake for anyone who’s spent the last year watching that trend take over every dessert menu in the country. And then, almost apologetically, there’s a straightforward New York cheesecake sitting at the end, doing none of the trend-chasing and somehow still holding its own against three flavours actively trying harder. Sometimes the classic wins by just refusing to compete.
