Regrettably, Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country concerning road accidents, and within UP, Kanpur has emerged as the city with the highest incidence of such cases.
Now, with the objective of mitigating road accidents within the city, Raveena Tyagi, Kanpur Traffic DCP, has formally enforced a mandate requiring the utilization of helmets for both riders and pillion riders on two-wheelers in the city. Along with this, the city traffic authorities have been directed to take strict action against the flouters.
Stringet penalty measures against those who fail to wear helmets
Kanpur currently holds the unfortunate distinction of having the highest number of road accidents and fatalities in Uttar Pradesh. During a government ultimatum issued to the DCP Traffic, it was revealed that there has been a 10.65% surge in road accidents and a 6.44% increase in fatalities compared to the year 2021 across UP.
As a result of this government directive, the traffic police have commenced enforcing stringent penalty measures against two-wheeler riders who fail to wear helmets.
