The Lucknow Mahotsav Committee and Department of Tourism have decided to postpone the celebrations of Lucknow Mahotsav until further notice over the alarming rise of the spread and transmission of the novel coronavirus in the city. The authorities have highlighted the unfeasibility of organising a 10-day cultural gala in Lucknow in the backdrop of a volatile pandemic. With this decision, Lucknow marks two consecutive years of no Mahotsav in the city. Last year, the Lucknow Mahotsav was postponed in lieu of the Defense Expo.

This is a 10-day celebration of the principal identity of the city, that promotes its culture and art in a bid to promote its tourism on both, national and international grades. A legacy since 1975, the Lucknow Mahotsav is a token of nostalgia, that ties the Lucknowites with a sense of belongingness and togetherness. This year, however, narrates a different tale for the Lucknow Mahotsav which has been postponed for the second time. Earlier slated in January 2020, the Mahotsav was postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.
