Hailing from the city of Nawabs, today we bring to you the story of a hidden gem. Arij Husain Abdi, born and raised in Lucknow, is our very own grappling champion. This talented wrestler has proudly represented Uttar Pradesh in numerous tournaments across India, including the recent one held in Madhya Pradesh. He is a finalist with three silver medals at 14th, 15th and 16th positions in different events.
Breaking through the shackles of an adversity, Arij Husain Abdi stands as a resolute athlete, driven to seize every moment and maximize every tournament opportunity.
An athlete with an inspiring tale
Our champion lost both his parents at a very young age. Groomed and trained by his Uncle and his two coaches– Jagroop Rathi and Manoj Khatri, he realised the importance of hard work early in life. He attained his education from Jubilee Inter College and Lucknow University and successfully represented both at multiple tournaments. Today, he serves as an inspiring example, not just for his peers, but for all who hear his story.
Among the many accolades to his name, Arij Husain Abdi is a finalist with three silver medals at 14th, 15th and 16th positions in the Grappling Championship, 2023. The 16th Grappling Championship was held at Diwas, Madhya Pradesh from June 1-4, where he showcased sheer talent while representing the entire state of Uttar Pradesh, and embodying our burning passion for athletics.
Standing tall as a shining example of overcoming insurmountable odds, 26 year old Arij Husain Abdi plans to leave no stone unturned on his journey ahead.
